Dynamical systems appear naturally within modern coding theory. For example, the dynamic behavior of iterative decoders (turbo codes and LDPC codes) is an active area of research. Iterative techniques are also increasingly used in other elements of the baseband receiver chain such as channel estimation and equalisation.
As such, the analysis of qualitative and quantitative properties of dynamical systems is not only important in control, but increasingly also in information theory. The System Analysis project analyses stability and related concepts for nonlinear dynamical systems in both areas.
